Day Eight - Psalms 33:10-12
The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through
all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his
inheritance.

ReplyDeleteThe Counsel of the Lord Stands Forever
Last Tuesday I went to vote. I was struggling over who to vote for. I could see pluses and minuses in all the candidates and I wanted to get it right. As I listened to the radio, a great deal of the conversation centered around, "Who can beat Obama?" It created this pressure to select the one who could win. As I prayed, God reminded me that He is in control, He said, "Vote for who I lead you to vote for and I will take care of who wins." That took the pressure off because even if I get it wrong, I know He will always get it right. That doesn't mean that I don't spend time making sure that I make a good decision. It just means that He has a plan and He will have His way. I may not understand His ways sometimes, but I know His counsel stands forever!
Barb what you wrote is so true. I used to get so angry with politicians and people who seemed to be in control because it often felt as if they could care less about the well being of their own country. As, I read these verses it clearly tells me that no man, no president, king... is in control. Today, I want to learn more about the purposes of the heart of God and not get caught up in the purposes of the heart of man.
