Psalm 37:23-33

If the LORD delights in a man's way, he makes his steps firm;  though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand. I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.  They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed. Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever.  For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. They will be protected forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off;  the righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.  The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just.  The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip.  The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, seeking their very lives;  but the LORD will not leave them in their power or let them be condemned when brought to trial.  (NIV)

  1. I'm praising God today for His faithfulness. As I read this memories of my Mom and Dad flood my mind. They loved (and my Mom still does) the Lord with all their heart, mind, soul and strength and served Him continually. Though they slipped and stumbled here and there, God never abadoned them. Our family was always provided for, blessed and yes, we never begged for bread :-) It would be easy to go our own way. I'm tempted to do it often. The path can be bumpy and the scenery can seem non-inspiring at times. But, "...the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones." His love is divine, unlike any other love we can experience. And it is in His love that we find joy, peace, contentment, strength and wisdom....the bumps aren't so bumpy and the view is wonderfully glorious!

  2. What an encouragement from our Lord! This is personally an encouragement to me. Even though I stumble in my thought life, in my lack of trust in Him for provision, protection (for my family and I), and if I'm gonna make it through each day...He is right there, upholding me with His strong hand. I praise God that His mercies are new everyday!
I am listening to one of my favorite songs right now and the chorus says, "Though the world may try to battle for my soul, the war is already won". The Lord offers more than just protection for our earthly bodies; He offers protection for our souls which the world would love to seek out, pull away from the Lord, and destroy. Praise God that the war for our souls is won and we can rest in the faithfulness and protection of our Lord Jesus! We have an incredible Father!
