Psalm 34:11-14

Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.  Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days,  keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies.  Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.  (NIV)

  1. The Good Life

Who doesn't want good days? I know I do. I want life to be simple, happy and peaceful. When I read this verse, I think, aha, this is the key to the good life! Then when I go back over it and realize what it is asking me to do, my joy quickly fades. I realize that this is impossible for me. It is hard to say the right thing all the time, to always turn away from the wrong and do right, and to be perpetually in peace.

Then I am reminded that it is not up to me to do it. Christ in me is the hope of glory! Jesus is not only the way to a good life, he is my good life. He is also my truth, my peace and anything good I have or do comes from Him. He is the key to the good life!
