Psalm 34:4-6
I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his
troubles.
Jonathan’s Deliverance
ReplyDeleteWhen my son, Jon came to live with us, he was 4 and ½ years old. Prior to coming to us, he had been passed around between several families. Needless to say, he had a lot of doubts and fears that were heartbreaking to see. He only ate four things, he would hide his stuff, and he couldn’t believe he had a bed, never mind his own room. When Randy (my husband) would go away, he would act up so badly. I finally realized that he probably thought his dad was never coming back (as he had seen so many times before).
After about 6 months of being with us, I realized that all of these issues were gone. We hadn’t done anything special, there was no deliverance session. We had just lived our lives. We (Randy and I) were parents who didn’t have a clue what we were doing. But, worship (and prayer) was a major part of our lives. We danced, played instruments (including pots and pans) and sang songs (mostly kids songs) to the Lord daily.
Jonathan had worshiped God, and all his shame (his past, his doubts, and insecurities) were removed. He had called out to God and had been delivered from all his fears. What an awesome thing we got to see first hand. Worship and prayer change things!
God has heard my many cries and he knows my fears. He has delivered his love for my worries and my doubts. Thank you dear one.
ReplyDeleteDavid, who wrote these verses was the king of Israel and Angela's son was a child God made His presence known in the middle of their fears and shame. When God is with us we can no longer feel that way. He fills us with joy.
