Psalm 38:15-22

I wait for you, O LORD; you will answer, O Lord my God. For I said, "Do not let them gloat or exalt themselves over me when my foot slips." For I am about to fall, and my pain is ever with me.  I confess my iniquity; I am troubled by my sin.  Many are those who are my vigorous enemies; those who hate me without reason are numerous.  Those who repay my good with evil slander me when I pursue what is good.  O LORD, do not forsake me; be not far from me, O my God.  Come quickly to help me, O Lord my Savior. 1. The Psalmist pleads for God's mercy in his tough situation, as his enemies are bearing down on him. He is confident that the Lord will answer him and catch him when he falls. He has realized that he cannot get through his pain and oppression any longer on his own strength. He must rely on God to get him through. We, as women, like to think we can do it all and be supermoms. Then when we stumble or are about to fall, we crash hard! It is a humbling day when we realize that God doesn't expect us to do it all. In fact, he wants us to go to Him and petition for His help, for He knows the steps we need to take and which direction we should go. We cannot get the help we need from Him until we confess that we can't do it all. The world would like to push us in the direction of complete self sufficiency and independence from everyone and everything, but that's not how we were created to handle things. We need support from our sisters in Christ and especially from the strength of our compassionate Savior. This brings to mind Romans 12:2 about not being conformed to this world, but being transformed by the renewing of our minds, so we can carry our the perfect will of God. He doesn't want us to cave in to the expectations and sin of this world. He wants us to ask Him to help us deal with those who persecute or slander us because we don't follow the grain of society and world we live in. Will you petition God for help when you feel like you are falling or will you try to latch on to something that the world throws at you that will crumble and not hold you up?
