Psalm 40:1-8

For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.  He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.  He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.  Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.  Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.  Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but my ears you have pierced; burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.  Then I said, "Here I am, I have come--it is written about me in the scroll.  I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart."  (NIV)

  1. My soul thrills when I read these verses! I can identify with what David wrote in the first three verses, as I have once been in the pit of destruction. But, God is a faithful God, and he did not let me fall. Instead, when I cried out to him, he gave me Jesus. He placed my feet firmly upon that Rock which is my Savior. I will will remember his salvation all of my days - where would I be without it?

When David says he has a new song of praise in his mouth, I know that feeling! I am so grateful for all that God has done for me. I am grateful that I have seen just how trustworthy he is. Sometimes I feel as if my very bones want to cry out in praise and awe of him! He truly is a consuming fire and I want every day to be full of praise to the one true God.

I want my life to breathe of his goodness so that it is like a breath of fresh air to others that are around me.

    1. Andrea, I think you just wrote a new Psalm! I love your last line. The "air" of the world is so thick and polluted (burden of sin), clouding our vision and making it difficult to navigate. God's Light - Jesus Christ - shines through, lifting the clouds, cleaning up the pollution and giving us true freedom. Go Green? Go God!
