Psalm 41:1-3
For the director of music. A psalm of David. Blessed is he who has regard for
the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble. The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land
and not surrender him to the desire of his foes. The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of
illness. (NIV)
These three verses go right along with "The Treasure Principal" that we have been studying.
ReplyDeleteThese verses contain a promise from God to anyone who is generous and gives to the poor. The Lord will bless him, he will deliver him in the day of trouble, he protects him, keeps him alive, he is not given over to the will of his enemies, he is sustained on his sick bed, and God will restore him to health. WOW!!!!
This is a powerful reminder about how important giving is to God. The poor and needy lay heavy on his heart, and it is to be the same with us. We are to give what we can (and even beyond that) to those who do not have much. When we do that, we are a reflection of God's heart here on earth. How cool is that?!
It very cool!!! We see how God is a God of peace. Our culture teaches us the opposite of these verses. Today,in our society we are supposed to be strong at all times and being sick or poor gets in the way of the goals we are supposed to set.
DeleteDavid was the king of a country so it is as if a president told the citizens of his country to "have regard for the weak." (...) "The Lord will protect the weak" and God teaches us to help the weak so we do not have to fear illness or poverty because God will provide for our needs through the help of our brothers and sisters. We do not have to worry about our future.
